Three cocktails to set the mood this Valentine's Day

Three cocktails to set the mood this Valentine's Day

It feels like Christmas is still being packed away and now Valentine's Day is already here! Are you ready to woo your significant other?

If you’ve been a good partner and have shown love and appreciation to your beau all year, then this should be easy for you. However, if you need to make up for some past transgressions (or have someone new on the scene), you may benefit from some advice and a few cheeky cocktails to set the mood.

  1. You can never beat a classic, home-cooked meal. Skip the lines and the crowd and cook a feast together at home, in fact, why not make it a competition? Test out your skills and see who can cook the best pizza, pasta or dessert!

  2. Getting a gift? Make it something you can enjoy together. Whether it's a staycation at a nearby hotel or an epic bottle of wine or even one of our 500ml One to Share cocktails.

  3. 3. Keep it fun! It should be lightheaded and a day to show your appreciation for each other - so don't take it too seriously. If you really want to let your hair down together, here are a few of our favourite cocktails to set the mood:

Rome with a view

One of my best pals in the whole wide world created this drink and truth be told, I didn't really like it when he first came up with it. Now I can't get enough!
  • 30ml Campari
  • 30ml Dolin dry vermouth
  • 30ml lime juice
  • 22ml sugar syrup
  • soda, to top
  • orange slice, to garnish

Measure all ingredients apart from the soda water to a cocktail shaker. Shake with a single large cube of ice until it has dissolved. Strain into a frozen collins glass with ice and top with soda. Garnish with an orange slice.

Between the Sheets

This one is a classic and one of the earliest to have a risqué name - this was a long time before bartenders were offering their customers Sex on the Beach. It has similarities with, and shares a bit of its history with the Sidecar.

    • 22ml Cognac
    • 22ml Light Rum
    • 22ml Fresh lemon juice
    • 22ml)Triple Sec

Measure all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Shake with ice and strain into a frozen cocktail glass.

    Bee's Kiss

Far better than being kissed by a bee in our opinion! Simplicity trumps again - dessert drinks don't get much better than this.

    • 45ml aged dark rum
    • 22ml honey
    • 22ml cream

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a frozen cocktail glass.
